Preparation of some 3α,5-cycloandrostane derivatives with expanded ring B

Abstract
Reaction of 17β-hydroxy-3α,5-cyclo-5α-androstan-6-one-17-benzoate (II) with diazomethane is reported. From the complex reaction mixture compounds with eight-, nine- and ten-membered ring B were isolated. Their structures were established by means of spectroscopic methods. Some derivatives of these compounds are described.
