NMR data. 11B and 1H NMR chemical shifts for the [S2B16H17] anion 1, measured as its [tmndH]+ salt in CD2Cl2 at 300 K; ordered as assignment, δ(11B) in ppm relative to [BF3(OEt2)] (δ(1H) in ppm relative to TMS of directly attached exo-hydrogen atoms in square brackets): BH(2) +16.7 [+4.48], B(6) +8.8 [conjuncto position, no exo-H], BH(3′) +4.7 [+1.40], BH(8) +2.9 [+3.33], BH(4) +1.5 [+3.23], BH(1′) –5.0 [+2.78], BH(6′) –8.2 [+2.54], BH(5′) –11.2 [+2.35], BH(10) –17.9 [+1.69], BH(1) –19.0 [+1.56], B(7) –25.3 [exo-sulfur-bound position, no exo-H], BH(3) –26.9 [+1.03], BH(5) –30.9 [+1.45], BH(2′) –32.6 [+1.21], BH(7′) –32.6 [+ 0.71] and BH(4′) –34.3 [+ 0.80], with δ(1H) for μH(3′,4′) –0.38, μH(6′,7′) –1.08 and μH(5,10) –1.62 ppm. Assignments by [11B-11B]-{1H(broadband)}-COSY, [1H-1H]-{11B(broadband)}-COSY and 1H-{11B (selective)} multiple resonance experiments.
