Abstract

1H, 13C NMR and MS spectra of the 2:1 cobalt(III) complexes, the azo coupling products of 2-aminophenol or 2-aminobenzoic acid with the citrazinic acid, were measured and analysed. It was found that the cobalt atom is six-coordinated being bound to two oxygens (one from primary and one from secondary component) and the nitrogen of 2-aminophenol or 2-aminobenzoic acid. Molar magnetic susceptibility data proved the presence of Co(III). Diazotisation of 2-aminophenol or 2-aminobenzoic acid and subsequent coupling reaction with citrazinic acid and complexation of the formed azo product proceeded on standard way.
