Abstract

The kinetics of oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutyric acid has been studied in gas phase over the K2HPMo12O40 catalyst. The rate of consumption of isobutyric acid and of formation of methacrylic acid and acetone depending on the degree of conversion of isobutyric acid indicated an autocatalytic reaction mechanism. A model of MoVI-O-MoV site has been suggested and the autocatalytic process to be due to formation of this site.
