Synthesis and Spectral Properties of 2-(5-R-2-Furylmethylene)-3-oxobutanenitriles

Abstract
Substituted 2-(5-R-2-furylmrthylene-3-oxobutanenitriles IIa - IIIl were obtained by condensation of the corresponding 5-R-furaldhydes Ia - Il with 3-amino-2-butenenitrile in acid medium. Relation between the structure and spectral properties (NMR, IR, UV, MS) is presented and the influence of substituents in position 5 of the furan ring on the conjugated 2-furylethylene system is discussed.
