Abstract

The following compounds have been prepared: [NiL]Cl2.3 H2O, [NiL]Br2.3 H2O, [NiL]I2.H2O and [NiL](NO3)2.H2O, where L is the title macroligand. The structure of [NiL]I2.H2O was solved by direct methods with the results: a = 8.399(3), b = 14.501(2), c = 15.699(2) Å, α = 86.64(1)°, β = 87.46(3)°, γ = 89.01(2)°. The substance crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P I, Z = 4, R = 0.0589, wR = 0.0626. The arrangement around the nickel atom is approximatively square planar. Cyclic voltammetry demonstrated the possibility of oxidizing the nickel (II) complex and the diamagnetic sulphate [NiL](SO4)2 was prepared by the reaction of [NiL]Cl2.3 H2O with Na2S2O8.
