Abstract

The derived expression show the dependence of the efficiency of a sorption layer on dilution of this layer with inert material. The presence of the inert material in the space between granules has effect on the term of axial dispersion, while the same material inside the granules affects both the term of axial dispersion and the internal diffusion. The inert material presence can change in the isothermal sorption processes a relative importance of the individual rate steps. The derived expressions can be applied for testing the rate mechanism and their dependence on the dilution extent.
