Abstract

On the basis of numerical solution of material and energy balance including, beside diffusion and heat conduction, also the convective components of mass and heat transfer and interconversion of mechanical and thermal energies, the problem is analysed of transient supersaturation in the thermal diffusion cloud chamber at measurements of supersaturation spectra of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). The results are compared with analytical solutions of the same problem for the case when diffusion and heat conduction are considered as the only mechanism of mass and heat transfer. The most advantageous case for measurement of supersaturation spectra CCN as results from the analysis, is that one when the temperature of the sample is equal to the arithmetic mean of temperatures of both plates of the chamber.
